The Alaska Consortium of Zooarchaeologists is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the comparative collection at the University of Alaska Anchorage, so a quality collection is available to researchers working on northern and Alaskan faunal collections.

Members also try to get information to other archaeologists and the community through workshops, presenting papers or sponsoring symposia, and eventually we hope to produce publications.

The Alaska Consortium of Zooarchaeologists is an interest group of the larger Alaska Anthropological Association, and has a cooperative agreement with the Department of Anthropology at the University of Alaska , where the comparative collection is held.

Members include teachers, trappers, professional zooarchaeologists, students, biologists, and archaeologists. Anybody with an interest in the study of animal bones, hair, and shell, particularly in northern areas, is invited to join.
